Minecraft continues to expand its reach, with collaborations becoming a staple of the game's updates. The popular block-building game is teaming up with SpongeBob SquarePants once again, offering players a new adventure in the underwater world of Bikini Bottom.
The previous SpongeBob DLC, released in 2022, proved to be a hit with players, featuring iconic locations, quests, and character skins. The success of this collaboration paved the way for further expansions, and Mojang and Nickelodeon are delivering with a new SpongeBob add-on.
Scheduled for release on August 20, the upcoming add-on promises exciting new content, including jellyfish-catching minigames, battles against familiar villains like Plankton, Doodlebob, and The Flying Dutchman, and a mystery involving the disappearance of SpongeBob's beloved pet snail, Gary. The add-on format, introduced in February 2024, allows for easy integration of custom content, making it accessible to a wider audience, including console players.
