McDonald’s and Pokémon are collaborating once more for a new Happy Meal promotion centered around Pokémon Horizons: The Series. This latest installment of the long-running Pokémon anime premiered in Japan last April and made its way to the US via Netflix in March. The series introduces new protagonists, Liko and Roy, as they embark on adventures in the Paldea region, encountering the Pokémon introduced in the 2022 games Pokémon Scarlet and Violet.
With the new series well underway, fans have been speculating about a possible Happy Meal promotion to celebrate its success. Over the years, McDonald’s has offered several Pokémon-themed Happy Meal promotions, featuring special toys or limited-edition trading cards. The most recent Pokémon Happy Meal promotion in Japan took place last August, offering festival-themed toys, while another in September featured cards with Pikachu and the Scarlet and Violet starters.
Now, McDonald’s is partnering with Pokémon again in Japan, as announced in two new videos on McDonald’s Japan’s official YouTube channel (via CBR). The promotion will be rolled out in two waves, each featuring a lineup of Pokémon Horizons: The Series toys. The first wave, running from August 8 to August 15, includes a Captain Pikachu-themed spinning waterwheel, a Poké Ball watering can with a plastic Terrapagos topper, a Sprigatito-patterned toy shovel, and a small Fuecoco frisbee.
