NetEase and Marvel Games have been gradually unveiling the lineup for their upcoming 6v6 multiplayer game, which is currently in closed beta testing. During this period, a select group of players has been trying out a diverse range of heroes and villains, including iconic figures like Hulk and Spider-Man, as well as lesser-known characters like Luna Snow and Jeff the Land Shark.
The most recent character reveal took place at San Diego Comic-Con 2024, where Jeff the Land Shark and Thor were introduced. So far, Marvel Rivals has 23 confirmed playable characters, and rumors are swirling about who might be added next. Early signs from the closed beta test hinted at the potential inclusion of Deadpool and Spider-Gwen.
Now, a Reddit user named BucketHerro has posted what appears to be a leaked promotional image on the r/marvelrivals subreddit, showing Captain America alongside already confirmed characters Storm and Thor. In the image, Steve Rogers is depicted wearing an armored suit similar to those worn by Magneto and Iron Man in the game, with a glowing blue light on his hand that some speculate could be used to summon his shield after throwing it. There are also rumors that this version of Captain America is from the year 2099, a setting that has featured in some of the game’s stages, and that he may be classified as a Vanguard character.
Captain America is a well-known figure in the Marvel universe, having been a symbol of liberty and justice in video games since the late 1980s. His recent appearances include roles in Marvel’s Midnight Suns and the now-retired Marvel’s Avengers, and he is set to join forces with the Azzuri version of Black Panther in the upcoming Marvel 1943: Rise of Hydra.
