The highly popular Queen’s Blood mini-game will make a return in the third and final installment of the Final Fantasy 7 Remake series, as confirmed by Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth director Naoki Hamaguchi. Similar to the previous entry, Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth expanded on the original 1997 PlayStation classic by introducing new sidequests and mini-games.
Queen’s Blood, a standout addition in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, allows players to engage in a strategic card game with various NPCs throughout the game. The objective is to capture spaces on a three-row grid using cards representing creatures and Shinra forces from the game. The player with the highest score in at least two rows by the end of the game wins. The game’s depth comes from certain cards having unique abilities, enabling a range of strategies and card combinations.
Given the game’s widespread popularity, Naoki Hamaguchi has confirmed that Queen’s Blood will return in the next Final Fantasy 7 Remake title, with an even better version in the works. Speaking at the Otakon 2024 anime convention in Washington D.C., Hamaguchi revealed that his team is currently working on enhancing the mini-game and promised more details would be shared soon.
Since the launch of Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, Queen’s Blood has received praise from fans and has even sparked interest in a potential real-world version of the card game. Many of Hamaguchi’s colleagues at the Otakon 2024 panel echoed the sentiment, expressing that Queen’s Blood was their favorite mini-game in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth—an opinion shared by fans worldwide.
